SILK CLUB

At the top of a building in Chiado is Silk Club, one of the most exclusive venues in Lisbon. It offers an almost-360º view of the historic center of Lisbon, covered in a minimalist décor and a chilled ambience. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, it serves dinner from 7 to 11.30 pm. Them is time from some music, played by a resident DJ, to go along with some cocktails.

TERRACE

Terrace is considered one of the most beautiful terraces in the world, mostly because of the view it offers – watch over the city and Ponte 25 de Abril. The ambience is relaxing and cozy, with amid cushions and wicker chairs. Perfect for a late afternoon gather with friends.

PARK

In regard to rooftops, Park is one of the favorites by the local people. Situated on the top of a car park in Bairro Alto, you find a really cool atmosphere, surrounded with wooden tables and small potted trees. If you stop and look around, it almost fells like you are in a garden suspended above the city, with a great view to Ponte 25 de Abril.

LOST IN

The exotic décor is one of the key features of this place. Inspired in India and Zen ambiances, Lost In is a colorful terrace where you can have a light meal or a drink in a relaxed afternoon or evening.

PORTAS DO SOL

If you want to take a mental postcard of Lisbon home, this is the place to go. The view is outstanding, and the scenario is perfect to end the day. From above you can see Alfama and the river while you enjoy a healthy meal with some drinks.

Time Out Mercado da Ribeira, Cais do Sodré

One of the largest fresh food market in Lisbon, it’s the first permanent venture for Time Out.

The market hosts a total of 35 stands, all with the same branded image and selling a wide variety of regional specialities, including wines from Garrafeira Nacional, chocolates from Arcádia, plates of ham or Azeitão cheese.

Grab a seat in this 19^th century building and taste some of Portugal’s culinary highlights. All in the same place.

Cervejaria Ramiro, Intendente

If seafood is what you expect, this is the place to be. Ramiro is a historic Lisbon institution, offering the country’s fantastic seafood. From crab to oysters, clams, barnacles or shrimp, you just got to pick and be amazed. Beside the food, the service is really good – the meals are served very fast and the waiters, who zip around with holding giant platters of food, have still time for a joke with costumers, providing a really happy environment.

Cantinho do Avillez, Chiado

José Avillez is one of Portugal’s most famous chefs and Cantinho do Avillez is one of his babys.

The decour is simple and small with industrial chic features, like factory lights or concrete floor. From starters to deserts, you’re in for a treat. From international cuisines picks like lamb tangine or steak tartar with New York Potatoes to more traditional courses like fish, you should go to Chiado and taste this Gourmet experience.

Kiosks, city-wide

We highlighted this type of venue because in Lisbon Kiosks are not a last resort for a meal at late hours. In Lisbon their civilized rest spots in bright parks where you have a funny mix between the frenetic city environment and a resting esplanade.

SeaMe, Chiado

This gourmet venue has a modern take on one of the traditional Portuguese dishes: seafood.

With a very tasteful decour and a well thought service, SeaMe offers an Asian-inspired menu that makes an interesting change from the classics seen in most other restaurants. Alongside sushi and sashimi there’s pan fried Azores parrot fish; seared tuna comes with wasabi ice-cream; and other fish listed include John Dory, grouper, turbot, cod, red mullet and Dover sole.

À Margem, Belém

Housed in a white former shipping container with a magical view of the river on its open side, À Margem is a cool, trendy spot that attracts both locals and some tourists. There’s a selection of sandwiches, salads or just take in the view over a glass of wine as sailing boats glide past.

8 reasons why you must Visit Lisbon in Early 2015

Travelers are going crazy for Lisbon. Portugal’s largest city is now on everybody’s radar and here are some reason why you should pack your stuff and come to visit!

It’s gorgeous.

From the tree-lined Avenida de Liberdade, to the gorgeous houses in Baixa and Alfama or the Lisbon’s sprawling central square Terreiro do Paço, Lisbon’s streets are full of vibrancy and romance. Adorning the city’s sidewalks you can find a beautiful Portuguese trademark: ornamented tilework.

The climate.

Lisbon has great weather year round. Winters are mild, with blustery weather and snow rare.

So, the warm days are gone and you have to grab a jacket every time you go outside. But we have a little secret to share with you – Lisbon is still great in the winter and we’re going to show you why!!

1 – Shopping

Lisbon is one of the western Europe’s most inexpensive capitals and adding to it, the sales hit the stores in early January! Go to Chiado or Bairro Alto and you can find vintage clothes and glassware, exotic soaps or some leather gloves. 2- Weather

We know it’s winter, so you’ll expect freezing cold an lots of rain right? Wrong! During winter Lisbon maintains mild temperatures and the sun is no stranger either. But if you are into skiing you’ll have some option too. You have to take the train or the car to get there, but we have a few great ski spots, like Serra da Estrela.

3 – Sweeties

As you probably know, we have an undeniable sweet tooth and you have so many pastries that you have to try very hard to taste them all. In the winter we stretch the scope of sweets even further and you don’t want to miss that. We got some examples for you – the famous Pastéis de Nata (custard tart) and tarte de Maçã (little apple tart).

4 – Fado

In the winter you will rather stay in a cosy warm place right? So you have to go to listen to the nostalgic folk laments of Fado.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN LISBON

Image this scenario: it’s Christmas time, you’re in Lisbon and you want to go Shopping.

Don’t know how to do it? Fear no more, we got the answer!

To start, you have the perfect scenario. Every November, the Christmas lights begin to fulfill the streets. Chiado, Rossio, Avenida da Liberdade and Lisbon’s downtown are some of the places you can enjoy this atmosphere, while you do some Christmas shopping.

But let’s talk about the goods!

If you’re looking for something “old fashioned”, you’re in the right place. Art deco boxes, vintage sardine tins, handmade leather gloves , retro packs of flour or rice and all kinds of toys, they are all here. Stores like Luvaria Ulisses or Óptica do Chiado are perfect examples if you’re looking for this kind of products.

In Avenida da Liberdade you can find a more high-end kind of store. Brands like Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors or Prada can be found here and you can take a break in one of many kiosks this avenue has to offer and grab something to eat or drink.

If you want a place with a more international kind of shop, you should go to Chiado. Although you have some stores most people can’t afford, there are more affordable one such as H&M and Zara. In Chiado you can also find quality Portuguese gifts, in stores like Vista Alegre, A Vida Portuguesa or Joalheira do Carmo .

Add all of this to the city’s climate as well as the gastronomical experience, and we can guarantee Lisbon is one of the best places you can come across in this time of the year.
